I really came to care about these characters. That says a lot.

There were times in the story where I was really bothered by the "place" of women in the societies. However, given how the world works in this book, with the demons attacking nightly, I can understand how things might develop into the way they are, and I'm cool with that.

On the whole, the characters are strong, male, female, old, young, abled, disabled... So I'm on board.

In fact, I hope to write something as powerful as this some day.
