Triggers for everything. What an infuriating read.

Content warning the whole plot - and my rage
I hated the characters and thought the main heroine to be excessively dim, and It got worse as the book went on. The police went off on a wild goose chase because they hated the woman as much as I did. The author annoyed me by reminding us of Devon's (he's a police officer) white teeth twice in two pages, we get it, eye roll, he's black. And then some very pointed mention of a gay police officer fancying various people he meets, in fact Devon isn't immune to that either - all the police seem oddly thinking about copping off with people while interviewing them, not something that has affected me at work, but maybe I'm the odd one...any way spoiler , stupid woman's stupid "perfect" husband (who it turns out she met on a dating app and has know zero minutes before marrying), turns out to be a serial killer and all round nutter, but no so nutty that he can't plan the world's most convoluted and improbable way to fake his own death and blame it all on her BECAUSE he was sad he couldn't stop shagging birds and have a lovely life with her while killing a bit on the side, or something. Who knows, it was ridiculous, his motive was bonkers. AND THEN to crown it all, he escapes and is never seen again, still out there murdering most likely and SHE discovers she's pregnant and has the serial killers wee son. so that's all lovely. Bonkers book. waste of a read.
