Intriguing

It's been a while since I read this book but never got around to write a review - a bit unfairly because it deserves more buzz. It's a mix of several types of stories that are popular in sci-fi: cozy (getting to know the crew and some of the guests), crime thriller in space and a dash of space opera. I liked how it was gradually revealed what kind of society (authoritarian/totalitarian) the story is set in. The mysteries sorrounding the ship and the conference onboard held my attention. I also liked the little pamphlets between chapters. Recommended!

I liked a lot about this book, even though I felt like it lacked some polish, particularly in wrapping the plot up. It is told through slice-of-life-ish vignettes about various characters and how they ended up working at the hotel, with the story revealed incidentally in the background the character's stories. I found this book endearing but ultimately... it's not really a hotel is it? isn't it a cruise ship? this bothered me a lot.
